UMass Dartmouth offers algebra for Middle School students starting September 18

An innovative, technology based algebra class for 7th, 8th and 9th grade students will be offered by the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, beginning September 18. The course, now in its fourth year, is suggested not only for students who are already doing well in their math classes, but also for students who are having difficulty understanding the foundations of algebra.

An innovative, technology based algebra class for 7th, 8th and 9th grade students will be offered by the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, beginning September 18. The course, now in its fourth year, is suggested not only for students who are already doing well in their math classes, but also for students who are having difficulty understanding the foundations of algebra. 

Instructor Frank Cabral uses software and curriculum developed by the SimCalc research project at UMass as well as computers and graphing calculators with studenrts in an interactive classroom environment. The course, which costs $200, is offered Wednesday evenings from 6-7:30 p.m. Sept. 18 – Dec. 4 in room 218 of the Liberal Arts building.
