Miriam S. Keating, a senior accounting major at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, has accepted a one-year position as a Post Graduate Technical Assistant at the GASB (Governmental Accounting Standards Board) in Norwalk, CT.

Keating, a Bridgewater resident, was one of four students in the country selected for this one-year internship. She will begin her duties following graduation in June. The GASB and the Financial Accounting Standards Board are responsible for the establishment and formation of new accounting standards.

Keating previously had been offered and accepted a position at Price Waterhouse Coopers in Boston. The firm has agreed to defer that offer for a year to enable her to take advantage of the internship opportunity.

At UMass Dartmouth, she is involved with Beta Gamma Sigma, the business honor society; and the Student Accounting Organization. A graduate of Hingham High School, she is the daughter of John and Barbara Keating of Weymouth and Bridgewater, respectively.
