UMass Dartmouth Offers Algebra Course for 7th, 8th, & 9th Grade Students

UMass Dartmouth, through the Division of Continuing Education, will offer Algebra for All, a non-credit course designed for students in grades 7, 8 and 9 who are already doing well in their math classes as well as for students who are having difficulty understanding the foundations of algebra. This course is meant for both improvement and enhancement in algebra skills for all students.

In its fourth year, Algebra for All uses technology and curriculum developed by a research project at UMass Dartmouth. The instructor, Frank Cabral, says this course "will use both computers and graphing calculators to investigate mathematical topics, such as the relationship between constant rates and linear functions.". This class is constructed to be highly interactive between students and instructor.

Algebra for All is scheduled to begin on Wednesday, February 5 from 6:00-7:30 pm. It will run through April 16~(there will be no class on February 19~). The cost of the course is $200.
