Umass Dartmouth Library Announces Brown Bag Lunch Series For Fall Semester

The UMass Dartmouth Library Interim Dean of Library Services, Ann Montgomery Smith announced today the schedule of featured speakers for the upcoming Brown Bag Lunch mini-lecture series in the 2003 fall semester. Co-sponsored by the Library and the Faculty Senate, the Brown Bag Lunch series offers three educational programs each semester on topics of interest to the University community.

UMASS DARTMOUTH LIBRARY ANNOUNCES BROWN BAG LUNCH SERIES FOR FALL SEMESTER 

The UMass Dartmouth Library Interim Dean of Library Services, Ann Montgomery Smith announced today the schedule of featured speakers for the upcoming Brown Bag Lunch mini-lecture series in the 2003 fall semester. Co-sponsored by the Library and the Faculty Senate, the Brown Bag Lunch series offers three educational programs each semester on topics of interest to the University community. 

Each Brown Bag Lunch features a talk by a UMD faculty or staff member followed by questions and answers period. They are scheduled from noon to approximately 1:30 p.m. and held in the first floor browsing area of the Library. 

The Brown Bag Lunch series is free and open to the general public, faculty, staff, and students. Guests are welcome to arrive early and encouraged to bring their own lunches. Complimentary beverages and cookies are provided. Parking is available in lot 13 and the Library is fully accessible. 

On Wednesday September 24, Christine Frizzell, the director of the University Counseling Center, and her counseling center staff, will present a program entitled “Dealing with Difficult People.” 

The second Brown Bag Lunch program is scheduled for Wednesday, October 22 when Dr. Dan Georgianna and Dr. Bob Jones, both professors in the Economics department, will offer a discussion focused on the issue of “Taxation.” 

To wrap-up the first semester series, Dr. Jerry Blitefield of the English Department will offer a presentation called “Sight Bytes: The Rhetoric of Visual Display.” It is scheduled for Tuesday, November 18.
