Slade's Ferry Bank Center At Umass Dartmouth Hosts Client Reception

The Slade's Ferry Bank Center for Business Research at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth recently hosted its semi-annual client reception at White's of Westport. The Center is dedicated to facilitating the growth of the region's businesses by providing an economic alternative for meeting business needs for research, training and consulting.

The Slade's Ferry Bank Center for Business Research at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth recently hosted its semi-annual client reception at White’s of Westport. The Center is dedicated to facilitating the growth of the region's businesses by providing an economic alternative for meeting business needs for research, training and consulting. 
It is a unique and affordable business assistance center located within the Charlton College of Business at the UMass Dartmouth campus. 

Each semester, Dr. Nora Ganim Barnes, Chancellor Professor of Marketing and her students are contracted to conduct market research studies by numerous local, state and national clients. At the end of the semester, the Center hosts a reception to present each of its clients with their completed research study. The event also provides the clients an opportunity to interact with and question the student research team that conducted their study as associates in the Slade’s Ferry Bank Center for Business Research. 

“Working as part of the Slade’s Ferry Bank Center for Business Research is a great educational experience for our students,” said Center Director Barnes. “The marketing studies these students produce for our clients are first rate, and they save those regional businesses thousands of dollars along the way.” 

During the client reception, UMass Dartmouth Provost, Dr. Louis Esposito, expressed his pride in and appreciation for “the Centers ability to reach out to the business community and provide them with the assistance needed to grow and make their businesses more profitable.” Dr. Esposito’s views were shared and expanded upon in remarks offered by Dr. Raymond Jackson, Dean, Charlton College of Business and Ms. Mary Lynn Lenz, President/CEO Slade’s Ferry Bank. 

Among the clients attending the reception were: Direct Finance Corp. of Norwell, Massachusetts, Digital Document Solutions located in Fall River, the Civil Engineering Department at UMASS Dartmouth and Futon Association International/ Ecin Industries, Inc. from Fall River. 

Other clients in attendance at the reception were the Fall River Five Cent Savings Bank, the YMCA of Southcoast, Attorney David Hadlock of Framingham, the Nations Heritage Federal Credit Union of Attleboro, the New Bedford Chamber of Commerce, the Bufftree Building Company located in New Bedford, Decas Cranberry Corporation from Wareham, the Bristol County Convention and Visitors Bureau and the Child Health and Behavior Inc. located in Hyannis. 

Each client acknowledged the quality of the research product and the in-depth insights presented by the student research teams. Several clients expressed their expectations of contracting the Slade’s Ferry Bank Center again for additional assistance in the future. 

Dr. Nora Ganim Barnes, is a Chancellor Professor of Marketing at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth. Professor Barnes is widely recognized both nationally and internationally for her expertise in Businesses Research and Organizational Behavior. She has numerous perceptive, extensively read publications, in the field.
