Entrepreneurs Speaker Series

Fall River - The Advanced Technology & Manufacturing Center (ATMC) at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth in conjunction with the South Coast Technology Council will host a series of brown bag speaker lunches to promote and enhance the work of entrepreneurs and emerging businesses. The series will be held once a month at the ATMC, 151 Martine St., Fall River from 12-1:30 p.m. and is open to all interested.

Fall River - The Advanced Technology & Manufacturing Center (ATMC) at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth in conjunction with the South Coast Technology Council will host a series of “brown bag“ speaker lunches to promote and enhance the work of entrepreneurs and emerging businesses. The series will be held once a month at the ATMC, 151 Martine St., Fall River from 12-1:30 p.m. and is open to all interested. 
ATMC kicked off its 2004 Entrepreneurs Speaker Series on January 21st - The topic was “Valuation of Early-Stage Technology Companies.” The presentation was delivered by Bob Crowley, President of Massachusetts Technology Development Corporation (MTDC). Mr. Crowley is one of the regions most experienced venture capital investors in early-stage technology companies. 
The object of the presentation was to offer advice and consultation to entrepreneurs seeking to learn about the venture capital market. Mr. Crowley, a 28 year veteran in the field, offered anecdotes on best approaches to follow in order to connect to venture capitalists and procure funding. The presentation also touched areas of writing a good business plan and industry standards for measuring valuation of a company. 

Future Topics: 
February 11th ~ Choice of Entity – Corporation, Limited Liability Company, Etc. 
This program will focus on tax, liability and other important considerations relating to the choice of entity (corporation, limited liability company, etc.) to conduct business, where it should be formed and other related matters. The presentation will be by Pat Gasbarro, a partner at Hinckley, Allen & Snyder LLP, and a member of its Technology and Corporate Groups, and by James Redding, a tax partner in Hinckley, Allen & Snyder LLP’s Corporate Group.

March 10th ~ Marketing Strategies 
Presentation by Joe Donovan. This event will provide participants with practical marketing advice as well as counsel to entrepreneurs and those with newly formed companies. 

UMass Dartmouth's Advanced Technology & Manufacturing Center is located at the SouthCoast Research and Technology Park in Fall River, MA.
