Dartmouth, MA- The UMass Dartmouth Women's Resource Center is sponsoring its first open microphone forum called That Takes Ovaries! in the Main Auditorium on Friday, March 26, 2004 at 7:00pm. Doors will open at 6:30pm and parking is available in lots 4 and 5.

“This open microphone idea was adapted from the book That Takes Ovaries!: Bold Females and their Brazen Acts which is a collection of real-life experiences and first-person narratives,” said Juli Parker, Director of the Women’s Resource Center. “The Women's Resource Center offers this open forum to reach out and bring us together our on-campus and off-campus communities. It provides women the chance to tell their own personal stories or stories about incredibly brave women in their lives. Men are also welcome to come and brag about the ovaries in their lives,” she added.

This event is a fundraiser for the UMD Women's Resource Center on campus and for Equality Now, an organization committed to stopping female genital mutilation (FGM) and the equally horrible but separate atrocity of sexual enslavement. Additional information about Equality Now is available on its website www.equalitynow.org.

Admission to That Takes Ovaries! is $5 for students and $8 for the general public. There will also be a bake sale held by the Alpha Sigma Tau Sorority to help raise money.
