'Losing Jonathan' now on CD will be broadcast on WSMU June 13-17 from 6-7 p.m. WSMU 91.1 on the FM dial or via webcast at www.wsmu.org.

When: June 13 through 17 from 6-7 p.m. 

Where: WSMU 91.1 on the FM dial or via webcast at www.wsmu.org. 

What: WSMU will broadcast on its public affairs show the entire book, Losing Jonathan. The book, now recorded on CD, tells the story of the heroic battle of Jonathan Waxler against heroin addiction during the last year of his life, and the grief of his family after his loss. 

Why: It is a very personal story, one that has appealed to thousands of readers of the book and could happen to anyone. 

Who: Professor Robert Waxler of the English Department of UMass Dartmouth wrote the book with his wife Linda, a teacher at Dartmouth High School. They believe that the book can be helpful, especially in these times when drugs appear to be so pervasive and so many families are affected by addiction. 

How: The staff at WSMU offer this opportunity to listen to the book to everyone in the community as a public service. They too believe that this story can make a difference in the lives of everyone in the region.
