Starting Up at UMass Dartmouth
Welcome! This section will help orient you to the campus and the tasks you'll need to accomplish early.
Human Resources
The Office of Human Resources handles all employment-related questions. The office is located on the second floor of the Foster Administration Building; phone: 508.999.8060. Payroll staff members are located in this area, as is the benefits coordinator.
Once you have been hired, HR will ask you to fill out forms and obtain a tuberculosis test. Review the new employee essentials and the benefits package online, but be sure to personally visit HR as soon as you arrive on campus. Please note, changes happen quickly; do not take the online material as the final word.
Basic Needs
Before the semester begins, you have some errands to take care of:
Once you have completed your HR paperwork, HR will give you a form to take to UMass Pass for your identification card. UMass Pass is located on the bottom floor of the campus center near the campus store. If you can get there during July and early August, you will avoid the rush of September when students are also getting their passes.
After obtaining your UMass Pass, you can visit the library and arrange for your library bar code, so you can borrow books and use library services online. If you think you are going to use the Brown University library located in Providence or other libraries that are part of the library consortium we belong to, you should request your consortium card.
Parking decals can be obtained at the Department of Public Safety. You will need to provide a photocopy of your vehicle registration, show your driver's license and your UMass Pass, and provide contact information. For questions regarding faculty parking decals, contact Public Safety at 508.999.8121.
To facilitate your move into your new office, contact your chair and/or the departmental secretary. An office key will be ordered, which, when it's ready, you can pick up at the Facilities Office located on the ground level (basement) of Foster Administration Building.
