Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing is dedicated to improving the health of people worldwide through increasing the scientific base of nursing practice. Its members are nursing scholars committed to the pursuit of excellence in clinical practice, education, research and leadership. The Society believes that broadening the base of nursing knowledge through knowledge development, dissemination and use offers great promise for promoting a healthier populace.
To achieve this goal, Sigma Theta Tau International is committed to furthering the use of nursing research in health care delivery as well as in public policy. It sustains, supports and interprets nursing's development and provides vision for the future of the discipline and health care through its network of worldwide community of nurse scholars. It is a non-political organization that makes available its diverse resources to all people and institutions interested in the scientific knowledge base of the nursing profession.
OFFICER VACANCIES: The Sigma Theta Tau Chapter is seeking members interested in serving in leadership positions. The six positions will start July 1, 2012 for 2 year terms:
President-Elect (1), Leadership Succession Committee (2 vacancies), Governance Committee (1), Secretary (1), Faculty Counselor (1). If you are interested or would like to nominate another chapter member, please e-mail Leadership Succession Committee member Marva Foster at (marva.foster@umassd.edu) to have a candidate’s name added to the ballot. Marva will provide information about responsibilities or answer any questions. Mentoring will also be provided for all our new chapter officers.

Theta Kappa Officers (2011-12)
Congratulations and thank you to those newly elected officers and a special thank you to all members who participated in the election process. Please keep in mind that the Nominating Committee will be seeking to fill office vacancies again in the Spring of 2012. The Chapter also has a number of standing committees that welcome new participants, and we encourage members to consider contributing to these standing committees.
