NSSE has been administered to a sample of freshmen and seniors at UMass Dartmouth every three years since 2002. Hundreds of colleges and universities across the country and in Canada use the survey to learn more about their undergraduates' experiences. NSSE asks students about their experiences in five benchmark areas that have been shown to be associated with effective educational practice: Level of Academic Challenge, Active and Collaborative Learning, Student-Faculty Interaction, Supportive Campus Environment, and Enriching Educational Experiences [Note: a redesigned NSSE survey is to be launched in 2013]. NSSE results help to indicate what aspects of the undergraduate experience at UMass Dartmouth are going well and what aspects of the undergraduate program may need improvement.
Spring 2013 Focus Groups
Follow up focus groups with freshmen and seniors were held in March of 2013 in order to gather in-depth, qualitative data about overall student satisfaction and student satisfaction with the supportiveness of the campus environment at UMass Dartmouth. An executive summary of results can be found here .
