Ombuds mediates between individuals or groups in order to resolve conflicts.
Workshops/training
The Ombuds is available for presentations regarding the services provided by the office to university groups, units, organizations, colleges and schools.
Referrals
When appropriate, the Ombuds Office will direct the individual to the office or person best suited to address his/her concern.
Policy/procedure development
The Ombuds is available as a consultant in the development of policies and procedures. Such consultation can ensure consistency with other institutional practices and reduce implementation problems.
Document review
The Ombuds Office is available to confidentially review drafts of letters/documents for clarification and effectiveness.
The Ombuds Office is an independent, neutral, confidential and informal resource. It does not accept formal complaints or notice for the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth. If a visitor wishes to make a record, or put the University "on notice," that is, to make the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth formally aware of a particular problem, we can provide information on how to do so. |
