- What do I need to take a course online?
You will need a computer or access to a computer that is connected to the internet. Your browser will need to support several common communications utilities: browser check
- How long do I have to complete an online course?
Online courses normally take the same time as in-class courses. Most are a full semester in length, but during intersessions and summer sessions, some courses can be completed in five or seven weeks. The content of the courses and the amount of learning, however, are the same.
Once you have registered for a course, you can contact your instructor with any questions.
- Do I ever need to come to campus to take an online course?
No, UMass Dartmouth online classes do not require you to attend classes on campus. However, we also offer blended courses that combine classroom and online instruction, which do require some classroom meetings. It is important to be sure of the format of the course when you register.
- Who teaches the online courses?
Each online course is taught by a UMass Dartmouth instructor who is responsible for instruction, student assessment, and all student-to-teacher and student-to-student discussions.
- Do online students receive the same course information/material as students in an on-campus courses?
Yes, online courses cover the same material and maintain the same standards as on-campus courses.
- How do I register for online courses and programs?
To apply for admission to an online program or certificate, visit Online Programs.

If you are not now a UMass Dartmouth student and have not been admitted to a fully online program, you can register for courses at
https://secure.umassd.edu/pce/enroll.cfm.
Select Get a New Guest Account from the options on the right. - UMass Dartmouth Matriculated/Current Students
Using your UMass Dartmouth ID and password, you may log into COIN (Corsairs Online Information) which enables students to pay tuition and fees online by credit card. - Register by phone or fax using a credit card, in person, or by mail

- What are the technical/computer requirements needed to take an online course?
Online learning does require a certain level of comfort using a computer. Please review our technical and computer requirements.
- How do I purchase my textbooks?
Textbooks can be purchased through the university bookstore by using its Online Services.
- Can I receive financial aid for online courses?
Yes, if you qualify for financial aid and follow the appropriate guidelines, financial aid is available for online courses. The Financial Aid Office is ready to work with you to help ensure success in your university financing plans. Contact us for financial aid information.
