RN-BS PROFESSIONAL DEGREE OPTION
The College of Nursing offers registered nurses an online baccalaureate program that is individually planned for each student. Students are prepared for success in using online technology and digital skills in the introductory nursing courses. Customized planning continues as students are supported and guided as they progress through the program by faculty and student mentors.
Highlights:
- Individualized plan for program progression each semester
- Online format provides contact with classmates and faculty
- Nursing courses may be completed in 4 semesters
- Program begins with one mandatory full day of class in the first semester
Students may transfer non-nursing course credits from other institutions to meet most program requirements. A total of 45 credits, including 28 nursing credits must be taken at UMD. These courses may be satisfied through the UMass Dartmouth Professional and Continuing Education division with online, blended or face-to-face courses. Nursing courses build on RN prior knowledge and skills and support professional development. A clinical course allows students to increase their knowledge in community nursing through faculty directed independent practice.
Eligibility: RN-BS applicants must show proof of a valid unecumbered United States RN license and possess the functional capabilities to perform the skills and behaviors required of a professional nurse. Students are responsible to fulfill all of the regulatory requirements of the clinical agency that they will be enrolled in the community health clinical course.
