Math and Physcis Opportunities for Women
MPOWR introduces and connects female students to research and job opportunities in the math and physics fields. Founded by UMass Dartmouth students Tiffany Ferreira and Leanne Silvia, with Professors Gary Davis and Grant O’Rielly, MPOWR is in its second year, with Tiffany serving as director.
Students meet throughout the school year and build a network of peers who share their experiences and knowledge. Typical topics discussed at MPOWR meetings are:
- Finding a mentor
- Career choices
- Attending conferences
- Presenting at conferences
