Getting started is easy

Speak up! Your voice counts, your passions matter. Contact the Director, the Assistant Director, the Student Council for answers.

Be advised! Find a research advisor who will help you get started in research. Usually you and your advisor will discuss your passions and plans, then work together to develop a research program. Sometimes that will mean joining your advisor’s research program—other times, you and your advisor will venture together into new territory.

Show off! Working with your research advisor and OUR, figure out where and when you can present your research, even in preliminary form. Is there a local conference where you can present a poster or speak? Will a departmental seminar provide you with space? Can you put your findings on a website? Should you start a blog? Could you write an article, perhaps with your advisor?
