Artist in Residence

Description

The successful candidate will have the passion for creative artistic impression using paint and/or design medium. The primary aspect of the job is to help develop a visual identity for the Leduc Center for Civic Engagement. The job will entail working to design logos, brochures, and various promotional materials for the Leduc Center. There may also be opportunity to paint pictures that will be displayed in SEPPCE.

Design or painting experience; Desire to use creative energy

Writer/Reporter

Description

The successful candidate will have the desire and passion for writing, strong English language and grammatical skills, and the knack for interviewing people and crafting good stories.

Qualifications

Interests in Journalism/ Feature writing and a passion for capturing the details and telling the story.

Photographer

Description

The successful candidate will have a keen eye and skill in photography. The primary aspect of the job is taking photographs at events sponsored by the Leduc Center for Civic Engagement. Secondarily, you may be asked to help redesign brochures and office space to make them more aesthetically pleasing.

Qualifications

Experience in photography - sharp eye for detail and capturing moments. Please note, you will need to supply your own camera!

College Positive Tutor

Description

College Positive Corps members will be responsible for presenting college workshop topics to Durfee High School juniors and seniors. The goal is that these workshops will guide students through the college search, college essay writing, and college application process. College Corps members will be responsible for attending mandatory training sessions and all workshops with Durfee High School. Transportation will be provided.

Qualifications

Sophomore or above, strong academic skills, interest in helping high school students plan to achieve dream of a college education

America Reads Tutor

Description

The America Reads Program partners with local elementary schools and after-school programs to help students read at grade level. In addition, UMass students may also serve as part of America Counts, a federal initiative to help improve Math skills.  America Reads runs every week day (with the exception of holidays) and has flexible hours which can be worked around a full class schedule. Transportation is provided by the university. A positive attitude, commitment and ability to maintain a consistent schedule are required. 

Qualifications

Interested students must enjoy working with young people.
