SHARE is a non-profit, non-endowed, publicly supported foundation that relies upon charitable gifts to carry out its work. There are a number of ways that individuals can help us to help others. Donate time. The Center for Rehabilitation Engineering is often in need of volunteers to help with equipment delivery and training for our clients. If you are "computer savvy" and enjoy working with people, we may have an opportunity for you. Donate your fundraising expertise. SHARE runs a number of fundraising events each year. We would love to have you participate as an organizer, worker or attendee. Annual events include a classic auto show, golf tournament and a walk-a-thon. If you would consider organizing an event to benefit SHARE, please call and we'll discuss your ideas. Donate your used car, truck, boat or airplane. SHARE accepts donations of most vehicles that we turn into cash to support our work. Many donors realize more in the way of a tax deduction than they would if they sold their vehicle or traded it in. Call for no-obligation details concerning the value of your vehicle as a tax deduction. Donate appreciated stocks or securities. You can legally avoid paying taxes on the gains of appreciated stocks by donating them to a charitable organization such as SHARE. You profit in two ways. First, you don't pay taxes on your gains and secondly, you get to deduct the fair market value of your gift at the time you make the donation.
Donate a gift or gift certificate from your business or home. Gifts are needed for SHARE's annual auction and for use as incentives for those who participate in our fundraising events.
Send a check. Donations of money can always be put to good use. Donations made in memory or in honor of a specific person will be listed in a separate section of the SHARE newsletter, SHARE Notes. Donations may be specifically designated for a purpose such as the SHARE Building Fund or the Summer Intern Program. Unrestricted gifts will be acknowledged by letter and donors will be recognized in our newsletter unless they prefer not be listed.
SHARE now has the ability to accept donations through paypal. If you would like to do so, click on the Donate button below:
Call us at 508-999-8482. Our regular business hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. On certain weeks during the summer, we typically work longer hours Monday through Thursday and close on Friday.
Donations or inquiries should be addressed to: SHARE Foundation UMass Dartmouth 285 Old Westport Road N. Dartmouth, MA 02747
Each year, the majority of financial support for SHARE comes from friends of the SHARE Foundation, individuals who believe deeply in SHARE's mission. Friends of SHARE are inspired each year to give gifts large and small to ensure that the organization's mission is being carried out. Each donation-from major gifts like the recent $150,000 donation from Betty and Walter Chang, to the annual donation of $25 by Ms. Elizabeth Smith-is extremely important.
Friends include faculty members, parents of clients, SHARE volunteers and hundreds of people in the community who donate and participate in events each year. If you are not currently connected with SHARE, but would like to explore ways in which you can support the Center's work, please contact us.
For several years, SHARE and Yankee Magazine have teamed up to help individuals with disabilities.
For just $20, you can order a year’s subscription to Yankee Magazine and help SHARE provide adaptive computer equipment to children and adults with disabilities such as cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis, Lou Gehrig’s disease, spinal cord injuries and more.
How? For each subscription sent to Yankee through the Yankee Community Partners Program, Yankee will send $8 to SHARE. Each month, subscribers will love reading feature articles about remarkable people and places in New England. They will view breathtaking photos of impressive sights and historical places, discover tasty recipes and browse sections on real estate, travel, food and a multitude of other fun and interesting topics.
And while they explore the magazine’s inviting pages each month, SHARE, the fundraising arm of the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth Center for Rehabilitation Engineering, reaps the benefits. You can even renew a subscription through this offer!
To help SHARE in this project, call (508) 999-8482 to obtain your special Community Partners subscription card. Or, visit Yankee’s Community Partners web page and order your magazine designating SHARE as the charity recipient. The online address is www.yankeemagazine.com
