The UMass Dartmouth Parents Association provides a formal voice for parents by facilitating communication between parents and the University. As a member of the Parents Association, you will receive regular communication from the Division of Student Affairs about matters of interest to you and your student. You will be among the first parents to know about campus news, issues, and events.
All parents of UMass Dartmouth students are eligible to be members of the Parents Association. To become a member, you must simply register with the Division of Student Affairs by providing your contact information.
You may do this:
- in person at University events such as Orientation and Homecoming and Family Weekend
- by contacting the office by phone at 508.910.6402, or
- by registering online
Please take a few minutes and register for the UMass Dartmouth Parents Association. If you've already registered to receive parent emails, you're automatically considered a member of the Parents Association.
Please remember that by contacting Student Affairs/Parent Relations, you will receive prompt responses to your questions, suggestions, and concerns.
The University will benefit from the input, energy, and dedication of the parents who serve on the Executive Board of the Parents Association. The Executive Board serves as a vehicle for channeling parent ideas and concerns to the administration. It serves as a sounding board for the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs and advises the Vice Chancellor on issues pertaining to campus life. In addition, the Executive Board develops programs and services for students and their families and supports the development of the University by supporting the Parents Fund.
The Executive Board may provide guidance on and participate in programs such as the following:
- Parents' Orientation
- Homecoming and Family Weekend
- Parent Communications/Newsletter
- Admissions and Recruitment Activities
- Development Activities

The Parents Fund
The Parents Fund is the fundraising arm of the Parents Association, which raises funds from parents of current and graduated students to support the association's activities. The Parents Fund also provides resources for projects, programs, and campus life requirements, which are not fully funded by the normal state budget. Private support is needed to assist UMass Dartmouth in broadening its margin of excellence in education. In the past, awards from the Parents Association have made a critical difference in the lives of UMD students. Grants have been awarded for student sculpture exhibitions, library support, student publications, book funds, and public safety/crime prevention promotions.
Every year, hundreds of parents give to the Fund because they support the University's commitment to a world-class education for each young man and woman on campus.
