Welcome from Provost Mohammad Karim

Mohammad Karim, Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor for Academic and Student Affairs

As Provost of UMass Dartmouth, I work with faculty and staff to ensure the highest academic standards and a vibrant student life on campus. I want to assure you of our commitment to the success of each student at our University. We are proud to provide opportunities that will challenge and encourage your daughter or son to reach new levels of achievement.

We provide our students with a remarkable return on their, and your, investment. I’m sure you will feel great pride as you watch your son or daughter develop his/her intellectual capabilities, explore new interests and ideas, and make new friends.

Our alumni speak of the "magic" of UMass Dartmouth. From the CEO of a Fortune 500 company to the emergency room nurse, from the astronaut to the Academy Award-winning screenwriter, from the mayor to the teacher, and from the artist to the engineer, they remember the faculty and staff who inspired, mentored, and pushed them to be more than they dreamed when they arrived here.

UMass Dartmouth gives your son or daughter access to faculty who bring discoveries from their laboratories, from the community, and from around the world right into the classroom to educate and inspire. These same faculty – fired with a zeal to bring positive change to society – engage students in projects that develop both knowledge and the critical interpersonal and leadership skills needed to excel in a complex world.

That is why Washington Monthly recently ranked UMass Dartmouth in its national Top 25 Masters universities, why U.S. News & World Report consistently ranks us as one of the top public regional universities in New England, and why we are in the top one percent on the President’s National Community Service Honor Roll.

I know you will continue be a source of guidance and support for your daughter or son, and we are honored that UMass Dartmouth is the university of choice for your child’s dreams.
