Fall River Children's |
The Fall River Children's Film Festival showcases the best of children's film from the finest of children's literature. The films are produced by Weston Woods Studios, a division of Scholastic, Inc. and are donated to the festival each year, including old favorites as well as latest releases. This Festival is free. The Film Festival is supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council and the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth Professional & Continuing Education. Along with the films, the children also view the art exhibit, Art of the Story. The exhibition shows the work of published illustrators working in the world of children's books. They will also participate in other activities such as story reading and creating bookmarks. Saturday is the Public/Family Day from 10:00 am - 2:00 pm in which children can attend with their families to enjoy the films and the exhibit. Families can also participate in activities from the Greater Fall River Children's Museum and the US Postal Service, to name a few. There will also be story telling with David Mello of the Children's Library in Fall River. Children will leave with a free book and frisbee to take home. The Fall River Children's Film Festival will take place at the Fall River Professional & Continuing Education Center located at 139 South Main Street. The ground floor of the Center is the Cherry and Webb Gallery. The Gallery opened during the summer of 2004. Since then, almost 150 artists have exhibited there.
