Opportunities for Educators
MTEL Preparation Seminar Series
Want to be a teacher? The jobs are there.
Prepare for the test requirements that all new Massachusetts public schools
teachers need at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth. All preparation
courses are held at the Fall River Center for Professional and Continuing Education,
located at 139 South Main Street, Fall River, Massachusetts. MTEL Preparation
classes are always forming.
The Massachusetts Tests for Educator Licensure (MTEL) program was initiated by the Massachusetts Department of Education in 1998 as part of our statewide education reform initiative for educators seeking PreKindergarten to grade 12 licenses. The MTEL program includes a test of communication and literacy skills (test #01) as well as tests of subject matter knowledge. The tests are designed to ensure that Massachusetts educators can communicate adequately with students, parents/guardians, and other educators and that they are knowledgeable in the subject matter of the license sought. Please visit the Massachusetts DOE MTEL website (www.doe.mass.edu/mtel/) for specific information on which test(s) are required for the Teacher license you wish to seek.
For a printable MTEL schedule of courses, click here (opens as a pdf). For more information, contact Melissa Pacheco, Senior Program Specialist at mpacheco@umassd.edu or call 508-910-9066. Thank you.
