Welcome to the Mediterranean Summer Program in Sicily
PROGRAM INTRODUCTION

University of Messina, Sicily
During our time in Sicily, we will visit various places such as the first Greek
colony established at Giardini-Naxos; the Roman villa replete with late third-century
mosaics at Piazza Armerina; the Greek theatre at Taormina, and the magnificent
cathedrals at Cefalù and Monreale.

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE AVAILABLE
This program is open to any undergraduate and graduate student. Students from
outside the UMass Dartmouth system may, with their school's permission, transfer
our course credits to their respective programs. Financial aid may be used for
overseas study. Students may apply through their own university.
There may be a limited number of partial scholarships available based on merit
and need. In order to qualify, please provide a statement of financial need
by briefly describing the financial conditions that led you to apply for this
scholarship. In addition, please provide a statement of purpose by writing a
short essay indicating your motivation for studying in Sicily. Please include
academic, professional, and personal reasons. Finally, please include a copy
of your unofficial transcript. Only students who have reserved their space in
the program with a non-refundable deposit will be considered.
