Biography
Dr. Bruce A. Rose is the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs. He came to UMass Dartmouth in 1997, initially as Director of the Upward Bound Program, after having served as Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs at Roxbury Community College in Boston. Prior to Roxbury Community College, Dr. Rose was Dean of Student Services at Hudson County Community College in Jersey City, New Jersey. Previous experiences include serving as Executive Director of Affirmative Action for the MA Board of Regents of Higher Education and earlier, as a student affairs professional at UMass Amherst.
He is a graduate of Bristol Community College where he earned an Associate in Science degree in Marketing and UMass Amherst where he received BA in sociology, MS in Business Administration, and an Ed. D. in Higher Education Administration.
In his current capacity, Dr. Rose is responsible for providing assistance, coordination and support for a broad range of activities, programs and services within the Academic Affairs Division including academic policies and procedures, student academic issues, non-faculty personnel issues, space allocation related matters, campus diversity initiatives and EEO support. He bears overall supervisory responsibility for the College Now Program and the Upward Bound Program and conducts activities related to the development, supervision and coordination of pre-collegiate initiatives.
