Corsair basketball and ice hockey compete Saturday in post-season

Two post-season championship tournament games will be hosted by the UMass Dartmouth on Saturday, March 8.

Ice hockey starts the action at 4:30 p.m. when the second-seeded Corsairs play host to #3 Nichols College in the ECAC Northeast Championship Game at Hetland Arena in New Bedford.  The Corsairs are making their third consecutive appearance in the conference title game and hope to capture the ECAC Northeast's automatic bid into next week's NCAA Division III Ice Hockey Championships. UMass Dartmouth is the two-time defending ECAC Northeast champion.  Tickets for the hockey game are $5 for adults and $3 for students.

As the hockey game is wrapping up, the men's basketball team will be taking the Tripp Center court for an NCAA Division III Men's Basketball Tournament Second Round game at 7 p.m.  The Corsairs earned a first-round bye and will face the Coast Guard Academy. Tickets for the basketball game are $6 for adults and $3 for students.  The game is being played under NCAA regulations which prohibit noisemakers in the arena.  If you are coming from off campus please park in parking lots 7 and 8.

UMass Dartmouth students learning to invest real dollars

Tomorrow's Wall Street giants could be today's UMass Dartmouth students.

Under a program initiated by the UMass Office of the President and the UMass Foundation, a  $25,000 student-run investment fund has been created to give UMass Dartmouth students a first hand marketplace experience in creating and managing an investment portfolio.

Dan Fernandez and Liza Lennox, both senior finance majors from Mashpee, are student officers for the project. "I hope to take away knowledge from those with whom I'm closely working, great team experience and cooperation, time management skills and a better understanding of analyzing the market," Lennox said.
