About Campanile

campanile

cam·pa·ni·le (kăm'pə-nē') - A bell tower, especially one near but not attached to a church or other public building.

Named for the Robert Karam Campanile, around which so much of UMass Dartmouth's teaching, learning and discovery occurs, the Campanil-E keeps alumni, faculty, students, staff and friends up-to-date on our regional, national and global impacts of our ever-evolving campus and the issues affecting us.

Academic year opens

The 2007-2008 academic year opened Sept. 4 with the largest freshman class in history, public safety enhancements and e-textbooks now available in the book store.

Save the dates for Homecoming 2007

Come celebrate UMass Dartmouth's past, present, and future at the university's annual Homecoming festivities, October 18-21.

The Homecoming 2007 weekend kicks off with the Athletic Hall of Fame Dinner at Rachel's Lakeside, Westport, and the Young UMass Dartmouth Alumni & Zero Year reunion at the Campus Pub.

The fun continues on Saturday. Take in the Ring Road parade; reconnect with old friends; enjoy the food and live music; watch the crowning of the Homecoming King and Queen while attending the football game against Nichols College; or tour the region, which will have plenty of autumn color.

This year, the Alumni Association partners with the "Bioneers by the Bay" conference on campus, with a presentation by renowned environmental advocate Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. on Oct. 18 at New Bedford's Zeiterion Theater; farmers' markets outside the Campus Center; and a film festival in the auditorium.

The weekend concludes with the Alumni Association Awards Brunch, to be held at the impressive Star Store arts campus in downtown New Bedford. More
