Join us for the 2nd Annual Blue & Gold Evening - A big party with a big purpose
Every year we invite our most loyal alumni and friends to come and celebrate our common mission of teaching, learning, service, and discovery.
Last year we celebrated the launch of the first major capitol campaign in the history of UMass Dartmouth. We set out to raise $6 million in private funds to be matched by $4 million in university funds to renovate the library that opened 35 years ago. Many of you joined us at a glorious Blue and Gold Gala last October where we named the library after our friend Claire T. Carney.
Today, we ask that you mark October 13, 2007 on your calendar for our Second Annual Blue & Gold Evening. Teams of volunteers have worked hard to bring this 18-month campaign to the $5.6 million mark in just eleven months, and we believe we can finish the job ahead of schedule. What a testament to the value that we all place on higher education!
This final phase in the campaign will begin with our 2nd Annual Blue & Gold Evening, on October 13, 2007 at 6 p.m. in the Claire T. Carney Library.
We are changing the format this year to make the event less formal and provide greater opportunity for friends and colleagues to mix, talk, and celebrate -- a big party with a big purpose. Rather than a sit-down dinner we are planning an event similar to the reception we hosted for the President of Portugal when he visited us this summer: a diverse array of food stations; music performed by people of the region; recognition of donors; a Second Chance Give Away of some of the most popular items from last year’s silent auction. You will get to take a virtual tour of the renovated library and an opportunity to purchase inscribed pavers to be placed near the redesigned new entrance to the library and the Ferreira-Mendes Portuguese-American Archives. It will be a relaxing and fun evening!
We hope you will be able to join us on October 13th. If you have any questions, please contact the Office of Institutional Advancement.
