Aggravated Assault

In accordance with the federal Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act, the Department of Public Safety would like to advise the community that three women were assaulted early this morning at Cedar Dell West at about 1:00 am.
Following a verbal confrontation earlier at the Elmwood shuttle stop, three women, two of whom are students, and their guest, were assaulted outside a Cedar Dell West Apartme t. Two of the women were knocked to the ground, and one reported being kicked. Medical services were called to the scene, but did not transport any of the women. No serious injuries were reported.
The suspects, all female, are described by the victims as having identified themselves earlier as living in New Bedford and may not be students.
Suspect number 1 is described as having dyed red hair and wearing a bright green sweatshirt; suspect number 2 is described as wearing a pink shirt; and suspect 3 is described as having long brown curly hair and wearing khaki pants. DPS is asking for your help in solving this crime.

Burglary – Pine Dale Residence Hall

In accordance with the federal Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act, the Department of Public Safety would like to advise the community of a burglary last evening, January 31, 2013 at about 8:30 pm in several rooms on the 4th floor of Pinedale Hall. No injuries were reported by the victims.
The first room was entered by two men while the two women occupants were in the bath area of the suite. Upon returning to their room, the women discovered two men going through their belongings. The men were confronted. One man fled immediately and the women struggled with the second man in an attempt to retrieve their belongings. The items were dropped he fled.
About the same time also on the fourth floor of Pine Dale, a third woman reported here room was entered by a man before she could answer a knock at her door. Before opening the do r, she observed two men in the hallway. One of them was able to partially enter her room before he was challenged. The men left after asking for someone who did not live in the suite.
The men in both instances are described by the women as follows:
Subject number one is described as an African American dark skinned male, wearing a black baseball hat, and black hoodie. He was wearing a half inch diamond square ear ring in his left ear and is approximately 5’ 10” tall.
Subject number two is described as an African American light skinned male who appeared to be about 5’6” tall wearing a red sweatshirt and carrying a black back pack.
There was no sign of forced entry and no other items were taken. This most recent theft, as in the case of many other thefts in residence halls, can be prevented by locking doors at all times. Students should never leave their rooms or valuables unsecured, even for a moment.

Burglary - Oak Glen Residence Hall

In accordance with the federal Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act, the Department of Public Safety would like to advise the community of a burglary and theft of a laptop computer in Oak Glen Hall early this morning. A male student reported that his unlocked room was entered and a MacBook Pro taken between the hours of 3 a.m. and 4 a.m. today. There was no sign of forced entry and no other items were taken. This most recent theft, as in the case of many other thefts in residence halls, can be prevented by locking doors at all times. Students should never leave their rooms or valuables unsecured, even for a moment.

In accordance to the federal Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act, the Department of Public Safety would like to advise the community of an incident reported to the UMass Dartmouth Police Department.
This morning at 9:24am, DPS was notified of a par ially burned paper located in Chestnut Hall in the common area of House #4, second floor . There was no significant damage and there were no reported injuries. Any fire in a residence hall should be considered dangerous and cannot be tolerated.
While the person(s)responsible have not been identified , DPS is presently exploring several leads and is asking for your help in solving these crimes.

Last evening and today, residential students reported that four rooms were entered and items taken. Two of the incidents occurred in Chestnut Hall and two in Pine Dale Hall. Laptop computers and X-Box electronic devices were reported taken. There was no sign of forced entry noted in any of these incidents.

This afternoon, at about 3:15 pm , DPS was notified of a partially burned paper flyer located in Maple Ridge Hall at the east stairwell on the first floor. There was no ignificant damage to the door and there were no reported injuries. Any fire in a residence hall should be considered dangerous and cannot be tolerated.
While the person(s)responsible have not been identified , DPS is presently exploring several leads and is asking for your help in solving these crimes.

Last evening, residential students reported that three rooms were entered and items taken. Two of breaks occurred in Chestnut Hall an remaining one in Pine Dale Hall. Taken in these breaks were laptop computers and X-Box electronic devices. There is no sign of forced entry noted in any of these incidents.
While the intruder(s) have not been identified, DPS is presently exploring several leads and is asking for your help in solving these crimes.

September 11, 2012
In accordance to the federal Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act , the Department of Public Safety would like to advise the community of incidents that occurred; one on September 9, 2012 and two on September 10, 2012.
These incidents involved the malicious burning of paper materials and a ceiling tile. The first and second incidents occurred in Roberts Hall. The third incident occurred in Chestnut Hall. No one was observed leaving the area and no suspects have been identified as of this time. The building fire alarm/sprinkler system was no activated. The seriousness of these incidents, especially within a residence hall, cannot be understated and they will not be tolerated.
The Department of Public Safety, in conjunction with Dartmouth Fire Department is investigating these incidents and is asking for support from our community. The Department of Public Safety is offering a $5,000 dollar reward for information leading to the arrest of person(s) responsible.
