The Federal Campus Sex Crimes Prevention Act

Enacted on October 28, 2000, the Federal Campus Sex Crimes Prevention Act requires colleges and universities to issue a statement advising the campus community where state law enforcement agency information concerning registered sex offenders may be obtained. The act also requires registered sex offenders to provide to appropriate state officials notice of each institution of higher education in that state at which the offender is employed, carries on a vocation or is a student.

In complying with the Federal Campus Sex Crimes Prevention Act, the UMass Dartmouth Police Department has established a procedure to advise the local community where current sex offender registration information, at which the person is employed, carries on a vocation or is a student at UMass Dartmouth may be obtained.

The UMass Dartmouth Police Department routinely informs the campus community each academic year where they can find information on registered sex offenders.
