UMass Dartmouth releases report from the Special Task Force

UMass Dartmouth's response to issues related to the Boston Marathon bombing

DARTMOUTH, Mass., August 15, 2013 – University of Massachusetts Dartmouth Chancellor Divina Grossman today released a report from the university's independent task force on the university's response to the Boston Marathon bombing.

The Chancellor expressed her sincere appreciation to the Task Force members for their thoughtful and careful analysis. UMass Dartmouth had initiated this process to learn what it did well and where it needs to improve, and to share this knowledge with other institutions.

The report concluded that "the events that befell the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth on Friday, April 19, 2013 could have happened to any university in the nation or in the world. Fortunately, UMass Dartmouth handled a chaotic and critical event in an exemplary manner and, in doing so, has provided the higher education community with some remarkable lessons."
