What Grant Makers Want ― and What Turns Them OffThursday, August 11, 2011
2:00 - 3:00 p.m., Eastern time
As you face fiercer-than-ever competition to win foundation and government money, you need to hear directly from grant makers and other experts about what makes a great grant proposal.
In a special one-hour Webinar designed to help you learn how to stand out from the competition, you’ll hear directly from a program officer at one of the nation’s biggest foundations as well as from one of the nation’s most prominent grant-seeking experts. You’ll be able to ask your questions directly, learn about proposals that worked, and find out what made them stand out.
You’ll also hear from the reporter who interviewed dozens of foundation officials for The Chronicle’smost recent outlook of giving trends at America’s biggest foundations. Together our speakers will:
- Offer practical advice on how to avoid missteps that can doom your grant proposal.
- Share strategies for crafting attention-grabbing proposals that will win grants.
- Analyze before-and-after case studies of proposals that initially failed to win grants―and share how they were overhauled to succeed.
- Explain how to tailor a proposal to a match the “personality” of the grant maker―the organization’s focus, beliefs, approach to problem-solving, political ideology, and grant-making style.
- Describe how to find the “hook” that speaks to the grant maker―showing that you understand its purpose and values and that you have a shared vision.

Cayuse Update
Cayuse has been working with the National Science Foundation and their Research.gov team for the past year to allow Cayuse 424 to submit NSF grant applications directly to FastLane via the Research.gov portal. NSF and Cayuse are satisfied that this feature is ready for general use.
March 28, all Cayuse customers will have the option of using Research.gov's Application Submission Web Service (ASWS) within Cayuse 424.
We will enable this feature in all customer sites during routine maintenance on Saturday, March 26th at 10:00am Pacific Time.
The user impact of this enhancement is minimal, but there will a few differences to be aware of.
Attached a list of Frequently Asked Questions that illustrates the key changes in the application.
