First Tests: Waiting a Publish Cycle before changes.

This is the image under Categorised > Supporting Files > Layout Assets > Miscellaneous - anything not layout related.> Image for side slideslide1. Its current filename is "beach1.jpg" It is a picture of a beach.

I am going to wait a publish cycle to make the file live at http://www.umassd.edu/media/supportingfiles/layoutassets/miscellaneous-anythingnotlayoutrelated/beach1.jpg before I make any changes to the media library item.

UPDATE: After the publish, I changed the file for image 1 to be "raisin.jpg." When I went in to update this content, it was already a picture of a raisin-- no more beach. My guess is that beach1.jpg will still exist on the server until we clean out the server, but in terms of referencing "beach1" in t4, you won't find it here. You find the happy raisin man.

I am also going to test with this pdf: pdf that can change

Again, waiting a publish cycle before I replace comma.pdf with another pdf called logic.pdf--

UPDATE: my guess is this will have the same result as the raisin.

Now I am going to add a media library item with the name "Verbs" and upload a PDF named "verb.pdf" : Verbs

After waiting a publish cycle, I will add another item in that same folder called "Favorite Part of Speech" and upload the same pdf, "verb.pdf."

Update: Okay, I have put it in the media library: Favorite Parts of Speech. Just in case T4 assumes the two files are the same thing, the content of this PDF is actually about quotes (so we will know which one wins if there is no name change). let the showdown for the verb.pdf filename begin.

Final Update: Upon publishing, t4 just adds "-1" to the second pdf (very undramatic!) So the Verbs media item has "verb.pdf" and Favorite Part of Speech is "verb-1.pdf"

I also checked on the status of the comma.pdf and beach1.jpg files-- they are still in existance on the server, but I would assume that if we did the weekly clean up of the server, they would then be deleted because T4 is no longer using them in any way (when it comes to media, if it is not in the media library, it doesn't exist to t4 anymore).
