Wed. 27 Feb. St. Thomas, U.S.V.I. Welcome aboard with a first evening social.
Next morning, ship orientation and sail handling. Set up watches.

Fri. 29 Feb. Virgin Islands Exploring the Virgin Islands. Start of all classes.
Snorkel investigations of coral reef ecology and overview of Virgin Islands geology.

Wed. 5 Mar. Antigua Maritime History of 18th Century Nelson's Dockyard.
Tropical rocky shore and mangrove ecosystem studies.
Solving the geological puzzle of ‘The Pillars of Hercules’

Mon. 10 Mar. Dominica Tropical rainforest hike to the Valley of Desolation and
the Boiling Lake. Cobblestone beach geology. Scuba diving on coral reefs.

Mon. 17 Mar. Trinidad Island cultures & history. The Caroni Bird Sanctuary, steel pan and cricket.

Thur. 27 Mar. Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic Exploring the history and culture
of the oldest city in the Americas. Informational scavenger hunt.

Fri. 11 Apr. St. Mary's / Cumberland Island, GA Barrier island biological
zonation, geologic fieldwork, island history and island hike.

Sun. 20 Apr. Beaufort, NC Saltmarshes, mud flats and day and nigh plankton tows.
North Carolina Maritime Museum.

Sat. 26 Apr. TBA New England Port Maritime history and northeastern rocky intertidal zone field study.
Tue. 29 Apr. New Bedford, MA Trip ends at 10 am, preceded by a victorious sail past the dock.

Sat. 13 Oct. Depart at 1100 hrs. First sail! Shipboard orientation and set up watches.
Sun. 14 Oct. Nantucket, MA Historical visits and guest lecturers. Bike ride
to study saltmarshes, beaches and dunes
Wed. 17 Oct. Mystic Seaport, CT Maritime traditions and crafts, river ecology, New England rocky interidal zone studies.
Tues. 23 Oct. St. Michaels, MD History, ecology and geology of the great Chesapeake Bay Estuary.
Sat. 27 Oct. Beaufort, NC Duke Univ. Marine Lab. & North Carolina Maritime
Museum. Intertidal flat studies of coastal North Carolina. Day and
night plankton tows.
Thu. 1 Nov. Cumberland Island, GA Barrier island biological zonation,
geologic fieldwork, island history and island hike.
Sat. 3 Nov. St. Mary's, GA Okefenokee Swamp canoe trip. Provision the ship.
Mon. 12 Nov. San Salvador, Bahamas Coral reef ecological studies, snorkeling
and scuba for those certified. Island geology & fossilized coral reef.
Other possible Bahamas stop if time and conditions allow.
Sat. 24 Nov. Luperon, Dominican Republic Mangrove swamp ecology, limestone
coastal geology. Visit to 'La Isabella' Columbus's first settlement in
the new world. Waterfall hike.
Sun. 2 Dec. Virgin Islands Island history and culture. Tropical rocky intertidal
studies and more snorkeling.
Thu. 13 Dec. San Juan, Puerto Rico Walking tour of Old San Juan. Farewell supper.
