Description:
The Massachusetts Rural Development Council (MRDC) is a nonprofit corporation that serves as a partnership between the federal government, Massachusetts state government, municipalities, and private for-profit and non-profit sectors to provide development opportunities for rural Massachusetts residents.  It is dedicated to improving the quality of life in rural Massachusetts while preserving the characteristics that give rural communities their unique sense of place.  MRDC’s mission is (1) to develop collaborative strategies for solving complex social, economic and environmental problems facing rural communities; (2) to encourage public/private partnerships that maximize the use of limited resources; (3) to assist rural communities as they work to shape their futures; and (4) to provide a forum for diverse rural communities and a voice for their common interests and concerns.  MRDC publishes a quarterly newsletter, The Rural MessageMembership:  Membership in the Council is open.  Any interested individual or organization is welcome to present a written application.
