Description:
The United Way of Greater New Bedford brings together volunteers, community leaders and corporate partners to invest in community needs and achieve positive results. It serves the city of New Bedford and the towns of Acushnet, Dartmouth, Fairhaven, Freetown, Marion, Mattapoisett, Rochester and Wareham. The United Way provides funding to 29 community service organizations, offers grant-writing and skill-building workshops specifically targeting all-volunteer groups, maintains an online database of volunteer opportunities at www.volunteersolutions.org, and coordinates the Federal Emergency Food and Shelter Program for Bristol County.
