The Robert and Jeanne Leduc Center for Civic Engagement at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth has been formalized through the generosity of Bob, Class of '78, and his wife, Jeanne, as a point of pride and as an expression of their belief in investing in the people and places that have been a part of their lives.
Bob received his BS in Mechanical Engineering when UMass Dartmouth was still Southeastern Massachusetts University. He has risen through the ranks of United Technologies Corporation and is President of Hamilton Sundstrand, which is a market leader in the design, manufacture, and service of military, commercial, and business aircraft systems. In addition to sitting on the board of Hamilton Sundstrand Space Systems International, Bob is also a Trustee of the UMass Dartmouth Foundation.
Jeanne was born and raised in Fall River, one of eleven children of the late Russell, and Mrs. Theresa Roy. Jeanne's path clearly demonstrates how the integration of academics and personal service enrich one's life and work. From Jeanne's professional commitment as an ER nurse for 20 years to her volunteer activities in soup kitchens and serving as a mentor and friend to disadvantaged youth in an after-school program to her role as a founding member of the Board of Directors and supporter of the African Teacher's Foundation of Westport, Mass.-Jeanne's selflessness is evident in all that she does.
