Information for Faculty & Staff
UMD Service-Learning Faculty Fellows
The primary purpose of the UMD Faculty Fellows Program is to foster the integration of service learning into our curriculum. The Fellows program is designed to be a long-term commitment to the development of a community of teachers/scholars knowledgeable in service-learning pedagogies and community-based assets and needs. Fellows meet the first Friday of each month to discuss relevant readings and prepare for service-learning classes. Fellows are expected to make a 2-year commitment to the program. Details of this commitment can be found in the Request for Proposal.

Service-Learning Teaching Assistants
Service-learning faculty have additional support in the form of service-learning teaching assistants who can help faculty with the day-to-day details of implementing a service-learning class. Service-learning assistants may serve as liaisons with community organizations or assist student groups with project conceptualization or implementation. They are trained and supervised by the faculty member(s) with whom they are working. In most instances, the assistant will have already completed the class for which they are assisting. Information and requirements can be found in the Application.
