Welcome to the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth VITA Program
The VITA Program at UMass Dartmouth is run jointly by the Leduc Center for Civic Engagement and the Community Economic Development Center in New Bedford, MA. The program is sponsored by the IRS and generally offers free tax help to people who make $50,000 or less and need assistance in preparing their own tax returns. Student volunteers, certified by the IRS through a training program, provide free basic income tax return preparation to qualified individuals in local communities. Volunteers are needed during the spring semester during tax season.
The VITA Program employs student volunteers. VITA members must complete mandatory training sessions prior to being able to participate in income tax preparation.
