Not all learning can be done in the vacuum that is studying. The Department of Public Policy shares a strong connection with the Center for Policy Analysis at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth with many of the Department’s faculty sharing direct affiliations with the Center. The Center for Policy Analysis is a multidisciplinary research unit that promotes economic, social, and political development by providing research and technical assistance to client organizations. The Center offers the opportunity for students to apply theoretical work to real-life situations, engaging in active research and technical analysis in the areas of economic development, public management, program evaluation, and public opinion research that directly benefits the local community and larger region. Graduate students have opportunities to work with faculty and staff at the Center on projects in both formal and informal settings.
The Center is organized into five divisions (economic development, educational policy and leadership, environmental policy, polling and program evaluation, and public and non-profit management) and three projects (New England Gaming Research, SouthCoast Signals, and the Urban Initiative).
