  • Prof. Beste Güçler had a article connecting research to teaching focused on limits published in the May edition of the Mathematics Teacher.
  • Prof. Chandra Orrill and her collaborator Drew Polly had a piece on incorporating Common Core Math Standards into 5th and 6th grade published in the May edition of Teaching Children Mathematics
  • Prof. Stephen Hegedus, Prof. Beste Gucler, Sara Datlton, and Ryan Robidoux presented at teh 44th Annual Meeting of the New England Educational Research Organization.

  • The STEM Education Department celebrated Pi Day with one of our favorite emeritus faculty, Prof. Bob McCabe - 3/14/12!

  • The Department and the Kaput Center welcome Luis Moreno-Armella from Cinevestav for a week-long residency starting January 26, 2012. As part of his week-long visit, he will give a presentation on the development of human cognition.

  • PhD Student James Burke presented a poster on the CAREER: Coherence as a BAsis for Understanding Teachers' Mathematical Knowledge for Teaching project at the REESE PI meeting on October 20, 2011.
  • Prof. Chandra Orrill gave an invited talk on how her research uses the mixture Rasch model at Contemporary Issues in Mathematical Knowledge Workshop at An Interdisciplinary Conference on Assessment in K-12 Mathematics: Collaborations Between Mathematics Education and Psychometrics on September 26, 2011.
  • Prof. Chandra Orrill gave an invited workshop on developing assessment items for measuring teacher knowledge at Contemporary Issues in Mathematical Knowledge Workshop at An Interdisciplinary Conference on Assessment in K-12 Mathematics: Collaborations Between Mathematics Education and Psychometrics on September 26, 2011.
  • Prof. Stephen Hegedus gave a talk titled, "Democratizing Access to Core Mathematics Across Grades 9-12" at SREE on September 8, 2011.
  • Prof. Chandra Orrill gave an invited talk titled, "Thoughts on learning from researching teachers" at How People Learn – Implications for Motivation Research Panel at ITEST Convening: Advancing Research on Youth Motivation in STEM on September 5, 2011.
