It's been a long time without going through our country's page. For it is quite amusing to find out that Capeverdeans are all over the world. Even knowing that most of my family is just in the same case.
Last summer I went to Sao Vicente, my parents are from Monte Sossego and Monte. When we left the islands 33 years ago, I was only two so I could hardly know anything about my country. Fortunately my parents made sure we never forgot our roots, so my trip to the islands in July was like going back HOME after a long absence.Mis padres son Iria y Djodje. I went back to Cape Verde in December of 1997 for the first
in 10 years. I was born there but my family moved to the US
when I was 7 years old. When I arrived on the island of
Santiago I was very happy and excitied to see my family that
I hardly remembered. The only people that I remembered was
my grandparents from my father's side, when they saw me for
the first time in ten years they couldn't believe it was me,
I changed a lot since then. It was the best thing that had
happened to me in 5 years. I went back on school vacation,
I spent a month down there. I really didn't want to come
back to school and face my teachers. But now I am paying
for all the work that I missed and I don't regret that I
stayed over my time limite for school.I am seventeen years of age, in the 11th grade at Fenway
Middle college High School located at Bunker Hill

I would like to thank you for this opportunity to learn more about my heritage. I really enjoyed this web site. I am a 16 year old male who left ALL of his Cape Verdean heritage back in Massachusettes. I recently moved to Florida to continue high school with my father. Whats up to all my Criolas and Criolos All I can say is that I live in Virginia now and I've never felt so empty inside, I never realized how much being Criolo was part of my life I mean I've always been proud and my tattoo of the flag shows that. But what I am saying is that For my first 19 years all I knew was criolo So I decided to go away to school and try to find find myself, now I realize that I knew myself all along what I am is a man that grew up on Cachupa, Caldo de Pexi, And Jegaseeda, please excuse my spelling but I didnt go to school in Cabo Verde. What Im trying to say is I miss the New England area, also that I am dissapointeded In the way myself and other criolos, and Criolas have been acting throughout the years, fighting amongst eachother over Whos from where Meaning between Brockton, Boston, Pawtucket, Providence, New Bedford and so on If I missed you Im sorry But come on now realize We are from either Barlavento or Sotavento, also fighting sometimes over Criolos from Cabo Verde or Criolos from Here.
