I am teaching 4 mentally gifted students at Hill-Freedman MS
about our wonderful Cape Verdean culture. They are learning our
creole and Portuguese at the same time. I also teach history and Spanish 
at the school. My mentally gifted students are having a lot fun
learning creole and trying to understand the words from music groups
such as Splash, Livity, Suzanna, Jean-Claude Gomes, Cesaria, etc..
Their homework assignment every week is to reflect on what they learn in
my class by leaving messages on the home page and reading messages left 
for them. Unfortunatelly we do not have an E-Mail address yet.

To all the students and teachers at the Hill Freedman Middle School, keep up to good work with your studies of Cape Verde.  I'm originally from Rhode Island, now living in Harrisburg, PA.  I travel to Philadelphia at least once a month on business.  People in Philly have trouble understanding what my nationality is.  Now I am glad that there is a sharp group of students in Philly that knows what a Cape Verdian is?

It is good to know that I'm not the only Cape Verdean on the
internet. I am from Ansonia CT but, now go to school at
Georgia Southern University at Statesboro Ga. So if any body
ever comes to GA and thinks there are no Cape Verdeans around

Like so many other Americanized Cape Verdian, I have been delinquent in attempting to initiate or maintain contact with my Cape Verdian brothers and sisters spread out throughout the world like a long lost family. I'm a Capeverdean, living in Rotterdam,Holland( it's the
Capeverdean capitol of Holland, like the Providence Area in
the States)
My parents emigrated when I was 5, and during 17 years we
never retured. So till the day I visit Cape Verde again I

I was very happy to see that such a page existed.Please e-mail me some information as to why Cape Verdeans aren't recognized as a legitimate minority worthy of scholarship money. I think the whole situation is appalling.
