A few days ago, DÛris Pires suggested visiting another

in Europe?) When I visited the islands last year, I accidentally
ran into the man who runs it, Ron Hughes. He was just
coming back from Sto. Antao and told me excitedly how he

to Ribeira Grande and call it "Over the top". Anyone who

I am a decendent of Cape Verd. My Mothers Parents were born there. My grandmother's maiden name was Maria das Dores Monteiro. I know her parents names also. She was born on the island of St. Vicente on Sept. 21 1896. My grandfather's name was Jose Jaime Monteiro. He was from the wronge side of the bed. He was of the Scrament Monteiro of the island of Fogo. He was born in 1888. I do not know more than this. If anyone has Information Please send it to me. He served in the U.S. army in world war one. Was wounded and die in 1935 from those wounds. He has a park in New Bedford named after him. It was rededicated on July 1st of this year.Thank you

Aloha ! I'm an American born Cape Verdean. I was born and raised in Canton, Ohio and I have found my way back to a tropical island. I have been living in Maui, Hawai'i for nine years. The Hawai'ians are quite similar to Criolo's. I'm the only Cape Verdean on the island, I speak Criolo only when I talk to my family on the phone. I visited Cape Verde in June 1994 as a Coast Guard Officer
aboard the USCGC DALLAS (WHEC 716). Our ship was returning
to the US after the 50th aniv. of Normandy Invasion cermny.
We conducted 2 weeks of training with the Naval Forces of
the country.

Ola a todos os que amam Cabo Verde:Antes de tudo sera importante referir que nunca estive em Cabo verde mas que desde ha uns anos estou interessada em la ir. Com p·ginas em portuguÍs e em crioulo, as possibilidades de entendimento para um grupo maior estariam estabelecidas, tambÈm. Š necess·rio que alguÈm que possa fazer a traduÁ“o a faÁa. Eu j· disse, em outra ocasi“o, que n“o sei inglÍs e por isso n“o me disponho nem tenho como fazer esse trabalho. Mas certamente n“o È o caso de grande parte dos que aqui vÍm, pois grande parte mora nos Estados Unidos. Acho que se querem mesmo mostrar amor ý terra, n“o seria t“o exaustivo fazer esse pequeno esforÁo.
