Ola Whitney e AshleyHow are you doing?? Are you still learning about
the culture of Cabo Verde?? It is very different
from 'Merka don't you agree. My best friend is there,
working as a school teacher in Santiago. She is
going to see Splash this weekend. My favorite song
is 'Splash', I think it did originate in Cape Verde.
I like Philadelphia but I miss my family in Rhode Island.
Most of my family is in America, the rest is in Cabo Verde
and Portugal. My family is from Sta. Catarina. Do you
know where that is?? How about Angola?? Can you find
that on a map. That is where my brother and I were born.
I am sending some materials that will help your teacher
show you more 'cool' things about Cape Verde.Continue to work hard in school. Take care

Have not yet read all yr pages, but seems nice.
This year she visited her parents on Santo Antao.
Also we regulary send packages to CV from Rotterdam.
In Rotterdam is a rather big group of CV'ans living
(12.000 is estimated by out mayor and his staff).
As there is a need of almost everything... there is a lot
to send...(searching for vessels to pass Rotterdam who pick
up the cargo cheap).
And therefore planning to set up a home page, but so damned
few CV'ans are interested in Rotterdam.
But i keep faith. By for now.

Ik denk om een "Home page" te ga ontwikkelen die alle info op het gebied van

Hiervoor is de samenwerking van iedereen, vooral de Kaapverdianen, heel erg belangrijk.

I think of Cape Verde as my second home. Although I don't speak fluently, I'm proud to be able to communicate in Creole and even have a sign on my desk at the bank that says "Me ta fla Creole" just under "Yo hablo Espanol". purtroppo, non parlo la vostra lingua, ma sono comunque affascinato dalle vostre isole, anche se ne so' ben poco, se possibile vorrei conoscerle di piu' per fare poi un viaggio dove approfondire meglio la conoscenza di questi posti.Conosco un po la Tunisia, un po l'Algeria ed un po il Marocco, vorrei iniziare a spingermi verso il Sud, cominciando proprio dalle vostre isole.

I have lost my unreplacable CD:
Cap Vert, Les Racines (PS 65061)(Playasound in Paris).
The CD is sold out from the company. It contained a
rare recording with the "cimboa" and "Festa do Pilao" from
Fogo. Does anyone out there (here?) know where to find
another copy?Tip for Norwegians: On NRK P2 the 9.th and 10.th of Dec.
on "Det flygende teppet",I will present somne folk music
from CV.Tip for other people:
The new CD with Kode di Dona is not the same, but
interesting to the historically interested.Better for
modern ears is Paulino Vieira´s "Nha primero lar " (1996)
Lusafrica/Mélodie: 79859-2Waiting for good news

Queridos caboverdianos de Hill-Freedman MS
(Brittany, Whitney, Ashley, and Albert Sarbeng)
I was glad to know that you all were learning about
Cabo Verde on the internet. I am a Cape Verdean,
who recently moved to Philadelphia. I too am a
big fan of Tabanka Djaz, like Whitney. Has your teacher
taught you how to dance, Batuko, Funana e Coladera??
Please send me your school address. I will check the
visitor's log. Good luck in school,Tchau

on the Norwegian National Radio.
Cesaria is out, by the way, with a "live" CD on Melodie/
Lusafrica. This summer´s hit has been "Mandy" with the
Rabelados from Holland, and "Djosa" by Rui Last One from
Lisbon. For more CDs from CV - you should check the LUSAFRICA - home

I love any information on Cabo Verde! The various links from
this sight are great. I spent the better part of a year there.
I lived on Santiago, Fogo, Mindelo, Sal, and Santo Antao. I
loved it and would love to return. I was there in 1991-1992.
If there are any Cabo Verdianos reading this that remember
"Elder" Hadlock, write me at the above email! If there are any
of my old companions out there reading this, let me know where you
are! Let's go back. I'm free the Summer of 1998 (I'm in
Grad School right now and can't get away.)
Keep up the good work on the Cabo pages. If I can find a scanner
I would be glad to send some pictures, if anyone is interested.
They're a little old but some are pretty cool anyway.
Se alguem quiser responder em Portugues ou Crioulo - 'ta fixe!
