Honors Program

Title: Honors Convocation

"Treat people as if they were what they ought to be and you help them to become
what they are capable of being." ~Goethe~

Beginning in 1986, the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth has held an Honors Convocation each spring on the first Wednesday in May.   The 2007-2008 Convocation Ceremony will be held on May 7, 2008 this year.

Over its first twenty years, the Honors Convocation grew and changed as the University did, with individual departments and other organizations adding more and different awards to the program. Last year, the Convocation became a smaller, more intimate event as colleges and some departments now host their own separate honors recognition events for awards relevant to specific academic areas.

Students recognized here today have achieved the highest grade point averages; have received prestigious named university-wide scholarships or awards; have completed the undergraduate four-year honors curriculum to become Commonwealth Scholars; or have merited other specific university wide recognitions.

Very many other students at UMass Dartmouth have achieved personal and academic successes and have made strong efforts to excel. Today’s honorees represent and help us celebrate the high aspirations and academic achievementsof these many students.
