SMBUA to offer Mass. baseball umpire test preparation classes at DYAA

(FALL RIVER, MA) -- The Southeastern Massachusetts Baseball Umpires Association (SMBUA) will offer a series of weekly instructional classes for candidates interested in taking the Massachusetts State Baseball Umpire Certification Exam.  The first class is being held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, January 19 at the Dartmouth Youth Athletic Association located on Russell Mills Road in Dartmouth.

Cost of the classes is $60 and includes class materials and a baseball rule book.  The classes will be taught by the SMBUA Rules Interpreter Steve Viera and will be held each Wednesday evening prior to the state exam.

The state baseball umpire exam will be offered on February 23 and is open to anyone interested in furthering their knowledge of baseball rules or becoming a certified umpire in Massachusetts. No pre-registration is necessary for the exam.
