Lifeguard and Water Safety Instructor classes being offered at UMass Dartmouth
(Dartmouth, MA) - A series lifeguard training and water safety instructor classes are being held at UMass Dartmouth, beginning later this month. The classes are being offered by Larry Lotz of the Massachusetts Dept of Conservation and Recreation in conjunction with the UMass Dartmouth Athletic Department.
The classes are open to the public with a course fee covering all of the associated materials and expenses for each class. For additional information on any of the classes, contact Larry Lotz at (508) 675-5759
Lifeguard Training Program
Dates: Jan. 30, Feb. 6, 13, 27, March 6, 13, 20, 27, April 3, 10, 24 and May 1
Time: 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Age Requirement: 15 years of age before course completion date (May 1, 2005)
Cost: $100 (UMass Students $80)
Certificates Issued: Lifeguard Training and First Aid: CPR/AED for the Professional Lifeguard: Blood borne Pathogens/Preventing Disease Transmission
Optional Modular (@ $10 each): Oxygen Administration for the Lay Rescuer; Waterfront Lifeguard Modular. (Please note that certain modular are required by participating agencies. You should check with your prospective employer to see what is required.)
Water Safety Instructor/Instructor Candidate Training
Dates: Jan. 30, Feb. 6, 13, 27, March 6, 13, 20, 27, April 3, 10, 24 and May 1
Time: 9 am - 12 noon
Age Requirement: 16 years of age before course completion date (May 1, 2005)
Cost: $100 ( UMass Students $80)
Certificates Issued: Water Safety Instructor form; ICT certificate
Lifeguard Training Review/Challenge*
Cost: $35 (UMass Students $25)
CPR only $15 (UMass Students $10)
Sun. May 8 9 am - 5 pm and Sun. May 15 9 am - 12 noon (CPR)
Sun. May 15 1 pm - 5 pm (CPR) and Sun. May 22 9 am - 5 pm
Sun May 22 1 pm - 5 pm (CPR) and Sun. June 5 9 am - 5 pm
* Must bring pocket mask to class or purchase one for $15
