Notes: Butch Langton (Carver, MA) tossed a four-hit shutout for his second victory of the season to lead UMass Dartmouth to a 6-0 non-conference victory over Amherst College (7-9) on Tuesday afternoon and the 700th victory in Coach Bruce Wheeler's career.

In his 31st season with the Corsair baseball program, Wheeler has posted a won-loss record of 700-485-3.

Langton went the distance for UMass Dartmouth, allowing only four hits, while walking three and striking out nine for the Corsairs, who move to .500 with an 8-8 won-loss record.

Tim Dwyer's (Franklin, MA) sacrifice fly scored Mike Rahme (East Providence, RI) with a single run in the second for UMass Dartmouth and Tom Jachimczyk's (Marion, MA) single scored Mike Dougan (Marlborough, CT) in the third for a 2-0 Corsair lead. UMass Dartmouth broke the game open with a four-run seventh on only two hits plus three Amherst College errors. Orlando and Rahme hit back to back doubles to score three of the four runs in the inning and give Langton all the run support he needed.

Amherst College left five runners on including first and second in the fifth and a man at third in the sixth. Dave Powers (Andover, MA) had a pair of singles for Amherst College.

The Corsairs return to action this Thursday afternoon when UMass Dartmouth hosts Bridgewater State College in a non-conference game at 3:00 p.m.
