UMass Dartmouth cheerleaders to host open house
April 4 prior to trip to 2005 NCA national competition

(Dartmouth, MA) - As they make their final preparations for next month's 2005 National Cheerleading Association's (NCA) championship event in Daytona Beach, Florida, the UMass Dartmouth cheerleaders will host an open house at the Tripp Athletic Center on Monday, April 4 at 7 p.m.

The Corsair cheerleaders, two-time NCA national champions in 1999 and again in 2001, will be traveling to the NCA championships on April 7 and 8 in Daytona Beach, Florida in search of the team's third NCA title.

First-year coach Scott Bouchard will be bringing his first team to the NCA finals, having taken over as head coach of the team last September. He was a UMass Dartmouth assistant coach during the 1999-2000 season and has worked with past teams on the choreography of their championship routines.

Coming off a fourth-place finish at the NCA finals in 2004, the UMass Dartmouth cheerleaders have already begun a series of competitions in preparation for nationals in April.   Last Saturday at the Shriner's Auditorium in Wilmington, MA, UMass Dartmouth took first place in its division, competing against a field which included teams from Assumption College and UMass Amherst.  The Corsairs have two more competitions scheduled before they leave for the NCA finals.
