Full squad standing back-hand-springs were incorporated into the 1997 competition routine. This allowed UMD to show off their tumbling ability, thus receiving the highest score in the gymnastics category at the competition. A squad is going to receive a higher score in the gymnastics/tumbling category if they have all of their cheerleaders tumbling, as opposed to only a few. |
